history

Dominican Volunteers USA (DVUSA) was established June 2001 by several congregations of Dominican Sisters and provinces of Dominican Friars (priests and brothers) around the United States. Prior to DVUSA, there were several other Dominican sponsored volunteer programs in the United States. The largest of those was founded by Marcella Connolly, OP in 1973 and was sponsored by the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa. The Southern Dominican Volunteers was another volunteer program sponsored by the Dominican Council of the South. These regional programs merged to form one national Dominican sponsored organization serving the United States.
