I’m a recent graduate of Dominican University in River Forest, IL with an undergraduate degree in Psychology. After four years of attending an institution founded on pursuing truth and giving compassionate service, I am absolutely thrilled to start a year with DVUSA. The program’s intergenerational component was so unique that I could not possibly turn down living with intelligent, driven, loving, and prayerful Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters while participating in a year of service.

This year I will be living with five Dominican Sisters and working as a 3rd grade teacher’s assistant at the International Community School in Atlanta. Having had the privilege to visit ICS prior to starting my service there, I know that the year promises to be one filled with excitement, challenges, and breakthroughs. The strong sense of community and motivation to maintain a beloved community among the diverse children, families, teachers, and staff really drew me to this ministry site.

Though many hours will be spent at school and in my community, I’ll be sure to find plenty of time to pound the pavement and trails at Piedmont Park down the street and explore new, tasty restaurants around town.
