Jannel Mariano joins Dominican Volunteers USA from Tracy, CA. She graduated from Dominican University of California with a degree in Public Health. She is serving at Catholic Charities Atlanta as a refugee resettlement specialist. When asked why she chose Dominican Volunteers, she said:

“I don’t find myself any different from the next person who wants to do good in this world. But that’s exactly why I want to be part of DVUSA. I want to do good. I want to do service. I want to be exposed to new and exciting worlds. I want to learn. I want to spread the message of being important to someone in some facet. I’ve always found this “want” to be practiced in the many service trips I’ve taken during my time at Dominican University of California. Working as a camp counselor, going to Tijuana to serve at a soup kitchen, doing Habitat for Humanity, and visiting El Salvador to learn and hear stories. By placing myself in service I both lose myself and find myself. I am reminded that my sole purpose in life is to serve others. I hope that by going through this experience, I find not only that but more.”
